| Visit the Citizens for Global Solutions Advocacy Center Here is where you can take part in urgent on-line actions on international issues that affect us all, email your legislators, sign petitions, and sign up for events. You have the tools, information, and opportunities to learn more about our advocacy issues and help us decide what new campaigns to tackle next. Some of our current and recent campaigns include— Tsunami Relief. We support generous Congressional funding for the victims of the tsunami in Southeast Asia. International Criminal Court. Citizens for Global Solutions has been a leader in promoting the ICC since 1995. We will not stand by while others are tortured and killed. Those responsible cannot be allowed to walk away. We believe the U.S. must work with our allies to bring war criminals to justice and prevent future atrocities. By supporting the International Criminal Court, we can help countries try their own citizens while also creating a global safety net so no dictator escapes justice. Earth Legacy Campaign. The Earth Legacy campaign was launched in June 2004 in San Francisco, with the public unveiling of a declaration in support of U.S. leadership on the global environment signed by luminaries from the foreign policy and environmental fields. Also launched was a new website, www.earthlegacy.org. As a member of the Steering Committee of the Earth Legacy campaign, we are joining with leading environmental organizations to ensure our country’ s re-engagement in making our world a healthier place. We encourage and promote constructive U.S. engagement with other nations in the preservation of our planet’s environment. U.S. Global Engagement. Citizens for Global Solutions believes that the United States can be most effective if we engage and interact with other nations through teamwork. One of the most effective ways for the United States to be a world partner and a world leader is to participate in the international laws, conventions, and treaties that have yet to be ratified by our legislative branch. Citizens for Global Solutions works, whenever necessary, to achieve the ratification of treaties and agreements that help build a more peaceful, free and just world. We support the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty, the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, the Convention to End Discrimination Against Women, and other important international agreements. Other Issues We’re Tracking— <> Proposals to Strengthen and Reform the United Nations; <> Legislation to Create the U.S. Department of Peace; <> Strengthening UN Peacekeeping Operations; and <> More As Citizens for Global Solutions, we believe in-- “Building Peace, Justice & Freedom in a Democratically Governed World” |
