Our local chapter is run on the cooperative power of individual volunteers.  We
don’t have an office.  We don’t pay any salaries, wages, or stipends.  Here are
some of the jobs that need to be filled--

Director: “Culture of Peace” Activities

The person in this position will work in cooperation with other groups and
organizations to organize and promote “Culture of Peace” activities in
Oklahoma.

As defined by UNESCO, the culture of peace is based on the principles
established in the Charter of the United Nations and on…

<>   respect for human rights,
<>   democracy and tolerance,
<>   the promotion of development,
<>   education for peace,
<>   the free flow of information
<>   the wider participation of women as an integral approach to preventing
  violence and conflicts, and
<>   efforts aimed at the creation of conditions for peace and its consolidation.

Activities may include art installations, peace education & “Global Education”
projects, concerts, celebrations, and more.

Director: “Partners for Global Change” Program

Every two months, the person in this position will participate in a national
conference call.  This will be an opportunity for you to get the latest news on the
hottest issues that are being pursued by our national organization.  Citizens for
Global Solutions will interview an expert on the issue that we will be working on
for that two-month period.  The conference call includes a question and answer
period where you will have the chance to ask the speaker any questions you
may have.

Every two months, you will receive an action guide that will give you detailed
instructions on how to execute an advocacy project in your community that will
help advance our national agenda. Additionally, there are conference calls once
a month where you have the chance to share best practices with other
advocates and get coaching from the program director. Program participation
requires no more than an hour a week.

for Global Solutions and/or write a letter, sign a petition, or take some
type of action at your table.

Coordinator: Congressional District

We need someone in each of Oklahoma’s five congressional districts to be a
liaison with our Members of Congress.  Each coordinator will work with our
Director of Political & Media Activities to organize outreach efforts, letter writing &
phone call campaigns, congressional visits, etc.

Each of these jobs requires a dedicated volunteer who is capable of
working effectively in a networked team.  Volunteers need to have the
ability to work creatively and independently under the leadership of a
volunteer board of directors.  “People skills” are a necessity.  Computer
skills are a plus.

These are part-time positions.  The reward you get from the job depends on
how much effort you put in to it.  The benefits of your work will be realized by
your neighbors, your community, and the world in the years and decades to
come.

You have the tools, information,
and opportunities to learn more
about our advocacy issues and help
us decide what new campaigns to
tackle next.

Some of our current and recent
campaigns include—

Tsunami Relief.
We support generous
Congressional funding for the
victims of the tsunami in Southeast
Asia.

International Criminal Court.
Citizens for Global Solutions has
been a leader in promoting the ICC
since 1995.  We will not stand by
while others are tortured and
killed.  Those responsible cannot
be allowed to walk away.  We
believe the U.S. must work with our
allies to bring war criminals to
justice and prevent future
atrocities.  By supporting the
International Criminal Court, we can
help countries try their own citizens
while also creating a global safety
net so no dictator escapes justice.

Earth Legacy Campaign.
The Earth Legacy campaign was
launched in June 2004 in San
Francisco, with the public unveiling
of a declaration in support of U.S.
leadership on the global
environment signed by luminaries
from the foreign policy and
environmental fields.  Also
launched was a new website,
www.earthlegacy.org.  As a member
of the Steering Committee of the
Earth Legacy campaign, we are
joining with leading environmental
organizations to ensure our country’
s re-engagement in making our
world a healthier place. We
encourage and promote
constructive U.S. engagement with
other nations in the preservation of
our planet’s environment.

U.S. Global Engagement.
Citizens for Global Solutions
believes that the United States can
be most effective if we engage and
interact with other nations through
teamwork. One of the most
effective ways for the United States
to be a world partner and a world
leader is to participate in the
international laws, conventions, and
treaties that have yet to be ratified
by our legislative branch. Citizens
for Global Solutions works,
whenever necessary, to achieve the
ratification of treaties and
agreements that help build a more
peaceful, free and just world.  We
support the Anti-Ballistic Missile
Treaty, the Comprehensive Test
Ban Treaty, the Convention to End
Discrimination Against Women, and
other important international
agreements.

“Building Peace, Justice &
Freedom in a Democratically
Governed World”
An Affirmation
Of Human Oneness

I am a member of the human family.
My home is Earth.
The achievements of men and women
throughout the ages are my heritage.
My destiny is bound to that of all my
fellow human beings.
What we jointly create forms our
bequest to future generations.
May my life serve the good of my
family.
May our use of the earth preserve it
for those yet to come.
